HOPE Program 40th Anniversary Gala

The Story

Founded in 1985, The HOPE Program believed that homeless New Yorkers needed more than temporary shelter—they needed skills, stability, and opportunity. What began with eight participants has grown into hundreds of graduates each year.

To mark its 40th anniversary and honor its founder, leadership sought to elevate its fundraising efforts and set an ambitious goal: double prior fundraising. After years of informal events, the organization turned to Rebecca Hollander Events (RHE) for committee leadership, honoree engagement, fundraising strategy, and full event production.

Our Role

Working within HOPE’s existing platform, RHE built the gala website, developed the sponsorship program, and managed all fundraising tracking. We led weekly committee meetings, collaborated closely with honorees and chairs, and crafted all personalized outreach, including letters and digital communications.

To elevate revenue opportunities, RHE also designed and executed a robust silent auction program.

On event night at Cipriani 25 Broadway, RHE oversaw every production detail—from venue and catering to A/V, photography, and auctioneering—and ensured all supporters were thanked promptly after the event. The result was a milestone celebration that exceeded expectations and set a new benchmark for the organization’s future fundraising efforts.

The Impact

Attendance: 450 Guests

Funds Raised: $900,000+ (Twice as much as last year!)

As a somewhat reluctant honoree, I was grateful to have the support of Susan and Rebecca, who made the experience not only easier but surprisingly enjoyable. Their accessibility, creativity, and encouragement throughout the process helped the benefit committee on which I served reach—and even surpass—its fundraising goal. I truly don’t think we could have been as successful without them.
