Community4Celiac Family Fun Day

The Story

Two well-connected, socially prominent young women, one a Celiac patient and the other the mother of a child with Celiac Disease, wanted to raise funds for Celiac Research by hosting a family fun day at an upscale day camp with amazing activities, gluten-free foods, and raffles.

What was in place:

  • Leaders who had passion, a great social media presence, and a huge community of friends and family.

  • A great location with activities, staff, and a built-in community.

  • A hospital partner with a stellar reputation.

Our Role

The hospital system was collecting 100% of the funds they were raising, leaving them with no funds to produce the event.

As a result of the financial arrangement, they also had no control over the way the money was spent. How it was spent on the event and how it was allocated for research.

We identified solutions and helped them:

  • To become their own 501 c 3.

  • Build a board of directors

  • Open a bank account in which to deposit the funds they collected, allowing them to control the mission.

  • Offer a robust sponsorship package to attract local businesses who support their mission and want to align with it publicly.

The Impact

Helped turn a Mission into a 501(c) 3

Attendance: 750 Guests (400 over goal)

Funds Raised: $60,000 (Double their goal!)
